Flyposters are an interesting and overlooked feature of city life. Possibly evolved from the village noticeboard, they detail information, events and activities for the population in a distinctive and visual way. To record the changes to a flyposter site over a year could make a fascinating social and cultural document.
What is it?
The project aims to portray a year in the life of a flyposter site as a short movie. We will produce a series of short videos which will be available online and at film festivals.
What do we want?
We want people with broadband access that have a view of a flyposter site to come forward, or anyone that knows of existing webcams that feature flyposter sites in them.
How are we going to do it?
We have developed two pieces of technology. One that caches webcam images with a date stamp and another that will allow us to sequence together the images into quicktime movies.
